Loud Dining

It's one thing to head out for a sweet meal but don't you also want a kickass atmosphere to go along with it?  Check it.  This is Chico's.  A vibrant little joint across the pond in Espoo, Finland.  A vast collection of interior elements ranging in style from modern to salvage.

Simple Reception

This space to me is badass.  It's the reception/waiting area at this funky little watering hole in Toronto called Parts & Labour.  I like it because they designed it their way and they really don't care what anyone else thinks.  It's a minimalistic approach filled with a ton of creativity.  Check it.  The huge, old school satellite dish turned hanging fixture.  Plastered, painted and covered in gold leaf.  The limestone stools.  Hand-carved to replicate the work of beaver getting after a log.  And why not hang a print of a brick wall on a brick wall?  Genius.  Killer ideas and great conversation pieces.  You can also check this post over at Fred Flare.

Restaurant Salvage

A cafe made up of vintage furniture pieces and industrial scrap. Classic pieces that all tell a different story. A light and almost monochromatic tone throughout the space is highlighted and accented by each unique piece.

Kin Restaurant

Great rustic space for this Thai canteen. It's Kin Restaurant in London. A crazy mix of color, texture and style.

Vintage schoolhouse chairs and exposed brick give that vintage vibe while the concrete bar and hand drawn wall art showcase the modern flair. Also love the little accents. Check the infill of navy blue brick on the archway. Ties in so well throughout with the overall design and adds that subtle character.

Killer lighting. Reminiscent of that Vegas Googie style architecture. This also runs over at my weekly guest home, Fred Flare.

Mexican Cantina

It was by design. The architects purposely left the ceiling unfinished, exposing the structural elements. This is rugged and borderline crazy. I'm all about character. I would just hope it stays up there.

Always conscious of budget, I like the simplistic use of the hose bib style faucet and concrete trough sink.

Regardless of your take on the ceiling I do like the "basic" materials they've paired here from the polished concrete floors to the galvanized metal chairs. Low maintenance and cost effective. A "what you see is what you get" approach to the design. All brought forth by the design team.

Recycled Shutters

A kickass interior design at this refined yet rustic Sacramento restaurant. I like the mix of contemporary and traditional materials overall, but the shutters are just out of control. They gathered 500 of these salvaged antiques and filled the ceiling and lined some of the walls. A solid statement with the balance in both patterns and colors.
